External recognition

We highly value external recognition for our policy and operations. This overview represents the results on the most important benchmarks in 2015: the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Carbon Disclosure Project, FTSE4Good, Transparency Benchmark and the Vigeo Index. Besides that, we extended the Privacy Waarborg that we received in 2014 with the Security Check, level Gold, we occupied the top-5 with 5 KPN brands at Rank-a-Brand and we achieved the first place in the Tax Transparency Benchmark. We received the ICT Milieu Award and two Datacenter Dynamics Awards, namely the Internet Datacenter Award and the Critical Enviroment Future Thinking Award for our TierIV, cradle to cradle datacenter.

Carbon Disclosure Project

Result: KPN is Climate leader

Explanation: CDP is an international, not-for-profit organization providing the only global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share vital environmental information.


Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes

Result: KPN is part of the top 10% of most sustainable telco’s worldwide.

Explanation The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices are offered cooperatively by RobecoSAM and S&P Dow Jones Indices. They track the stock performance of about 2500 of the world's leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria.


FTSE4Goood

Result: KPN remains a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series

The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.



Transparantie benchmark

Result: KPN is listed on nr 6 for our Integrated Report on 2015.

Explanation: 500 companies are investigated for the Transparantiebenchmark . KPN was in the top 6 for the last 4 years and won De Kristal in 2010.



Vigeo Index

Result: KPN is again listed in the stock exchange index Vigeo Benelux top 20 and in Vigeo Eurozone 120

Explanation: Vigeo has established itself as the leading European expert in the assessment of companies and organizations with regard to their practices and performance on environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) issues.



Tax Transparency Benchmark

Result: KPN is number 1, together with Unilever

Explanation: A comparative study of 64 listed companies on good tax governance




Datacenter dynamics Award

Result 1: Winnaar Critical Environment Future Thinking award for the new Datacenter High Tech Campus of KPN.

Explanation: This Award is about recognizing the innovation and thinking that is shaping the next generation of cutting edge data center solutions.

Result 2: Winnaar Internet data center Award for the new Datacenter High Tech Campus of KPN.

Explanation: The winner of this award will demonstrate an innovative and pioneering approach to the design of a new data center or a major retrofit/upgrade within an existing facility either as a standalone project or in a multi-tenant environment.



ICT Milieu Award

Result: Winner of the ICT Milieuaward 2015 for the new Datacenter High Tech Campus of KPN, because its decreasing use of energy while data traffic strongly increases in the Netherlands. The datacenter uses sustainable technologies in order to achieve this result.

Explanation: The ICT Milieu Award (an initiative by ICT Milieu) is given each year to the most innovative, environmentally friendly, sustainable and appealing ICT product in one the fields of recycling discarded ICT equipment, responsible use of material, or reducing waste or energy use. Only ICT companies based in the Netherlands are considered for the Award.


Privacy Waarborg

Result: Privacy Waarborg (2014) in 2015 complemented with the Security label – level Gold

Explanation: The Privacy Seal is a quality label ensuring a correct use of personal data for direct marketing purposes. The Privacy Seal is exclusively worn by members of the Dutch Dialogue Marketing Association (DDMA). DDMA-members have committed themselves to standards of ethical conduct and best practice laid down in Codes of Conduct. The DDMA is constantly developing, maintaining and monitoring self-regulatory codes for communication channels such as direct mail, email, telephone and sms services. These codes are designed to help protect both industry and consumers. Members are audited annually by the DDMA Privacy Authority to ensure their commercial communications are compliant with legal and self-regulatory standards.
